My heart goes out to the friends and family of those killed in the tragic accident on Saturday morning. This must be a nightmare for the driver of the Crown Victoria who hit the crowd and for those affected by the resulting deaths and serious injuries of loved ones. More information is needed at this point, but it doesn’t sounds like many people are coming forward with eyewitness accounts yet. Yes, there was an the illegal street race that was ultimately the reason for bystanders being out at that hour standing on the road. However, people lost their lives, so witnesses need to come forward.
In this subculture of illegal street racing, we have now seen the generations of race enthusiasts. But, my frustration — I just don’t understand how it’s ever okay for 13- and 15-year old children to be accompanying parents and grandparents to such dangerous and not-to-mention illegal events (at 3AM in the morning). Maybe I’m the prude? If it’s not one thing in this county, it’s another…
