Have you heard that Evite has a free new service called QuickVite for mobile phones? The Evite Web site says, “[Quickvite is a]…fast, easy way to coordinate last-minute get-togethers with your friends. Guests can receive QuickVite as email or text message…[and] can reply in 3 different ways. Guests can reply yes/no to the text message or click the link to respond to see who’s coming, and add a message before replying. QuickVite Evite Mobile looks like a great service that I am sure I will be using in the near future!

I found an interesting Web site today called Rotten Neighbors which is a Google map mashup that allows you to search for “rotten neighbors” by zip code and/or contribute your own comments to the map. I did a couple of searches in the Washington DC Metropolitan area. Many of the comments appear to be useful, but I was literally laughing out loud (LOL) at some of the contributions.
If the Rotten Neighbors Web site owners can stay on top of vandals posting irrelevant contributions, then I think this could be a great resource for home buyers. Rotten Neighbors will only be as good as the truthfulness of the people providing the contributions to the map. It was interesting to see that there were a few entries highlighting good neighbors too.
Check out a few snippets of contributions from the Rotten Neighbor Web site below –
Where are the Parents?
“Has children that have friends that like to break into neighbors cars.”
I’m a bad neighbor!
“I am an awful neighbor, don’t move near me!”
disrespectful renter in the basement
“LOUD, FOUL mouthed renter in the basement even though it is against HOA bylaws…”
Momma has not cut the cords!
“Here is a family that is interesting. The two 35+ year old kids still live with their parents…”
Ghetto
“They hold loud conversations at 3am in front of the house with cars running…. run dont walk. Sorry I moved here cant wait to move away!”

Slingbox allows you to watch and control your home cable TV from any Internet-connected computer or mobile phone way from home. This sounds like a great tool for vacations and business trips. Take the Virtual Tour on the Sling Media Web site for more information. You should be able to get it for under $200.

Eight days and counting until the long-awaited release of the Apple iPhone. I know I was up on the Blackberry Curve last month, but I can’t help but take notice of the Apple iPhone.
Where can you get an Apple iPhone in the Washington DC area? I checked. Sidenote—Why do I not find it surprising that there is not one Apple store in all of Prince George’s County, MD? Can we get an Apple Store? Well, we don’t have a CompUSA (sorry Tavis) so I guess an Apple store would be pushing it. Anyway, you should be able to get the Apple iPhone from AT&T Wireless (formerly Cingular Wireless) when it arrives in stores on June 29th.

Today, as I sifted through my hundreds of e-mail messages in my work inbox, I also realized that the messages in my personal Yahoo! account had reached over 4,000 (ludicrous…I‘ve been meaning to clean that up!) Those realizations made me remember reading an article in the Washington Post last month, “E-Mail Reply to All: ‘Leave Me Alone’”. Basically, people are declaring e-mail bankruptcy.
Imagine deleting all of your old messages and sending a message to everyone in your address book saying that you are starting over and in case you missed something important, please re-send the message. Well, I am getting to that point…at least for personal messages. At work, I use my inbox as my “to-do” list, which is probably not a good idea since I will never finish it all. I suppose I would get fired if I decided to declare e-mail bankruptcy at work…lol. My only question: Will this affect my e-mail “credit” for seven years?

If you haven’t heard yet, Google (not Microsoft) is taking over the world. Okay, seriously, in the last two days three people have sent me pictures to view at Google’s Picasa Web Albums, which is part of Google Pack. One feature that stuck out to me was the ability to also post short movies (i.e., mpegs) within a Web Album slideshow. I previously used Kodak EasyShare Gallery, but I think I will try out Picasa.
